Local TV backtracks from being Local yet again!
Sep 12th, 2019, 11:07am

What a complete waste of spectrum 'Local TV' is!  Having discovered there is no money in broadcasting local news on TV (didn't they notice itv backing out of it?) they now want to back out of it again.

Ofcom has given permission for them to reduce the number of individual station hours in favour of a syndicated service.  Their excuse?  "..the character of a service is determined by its identity and ethos, and not with regards to meeting specific quotas."

More here.

Note also this con, finally being removed!

"As part of the regulatory process, the Local TV Network has confirmed ‘repeats’ or ‘looped’ content is to be removed from some services, including That's TV's channels, where local news was previously looped in repeats, with minor changes in each loop so that it could be counted as 'first-run' programming."

Richard
