Formula 1 but 5th rate coverage
May 26th, 2019, 3:25pm

Refusing to pay Sky TV prices I am forced to listen to R5 and follow the on-line coverage of Monaco GP.  But, ugh, how they murder the English Language!   Verstappen apparently "beared down" on Hamilton. Earlier another driver "pealed away" (the bells, the bells!) and many more howlers. And the commentary was simply garbage.  Hamilton is going for it, screamed the man with the mic towards the end of the race. Except it was Verstappen "going for it" and Hamilton defending.   And I also heard "the crown in the jewel" along with a huge number of other verbals. Quality coverage it was not. I really don't know whether to blame the classroom teachers of the last 30 years or BBC recruitment staff who are failing to check the actual ability of their broadcasters and journalists to communicate fluently and correctly. What are the relevant Editors doing about it? Isn't anyone ever told to do better?
