Unique BBC?
Oct 6th, 2013, 1:48pm

Any members agree with this?

BBC One should increase frequency of Regional and National 'Opt-outs'?

ITV does very little, Channel Four and "Five" can't, and SKY (unless they create a regional infrastructure and associated transponders) is not in position, (yet).

Only the BBC has national, regional and LOCAL production bases, from which to create and broadcast UK "British" programmes to Britain.

Perhaps the Great British Public are not interested in their roots, their history and character.
Perhaps they are more interested in Big Brother and "Sport" than what's happening in their area.

I do mean only political programmes, I refer to entertainment, interviews and features.
Nothing too 'heavy', but NEAR to people.

The technology is now there (Sat trucks etc).

Programmes that would be talked about..."Did you see that programme about 'our' xxx on TV last night?

"The BBC - Nearer to YOU" should be the catch-phrase for 2014.

What do you think?

Perhaps Numbers are more important.

"The Arts" are all well and good, but the local school, shops library are (arguably) more important to a community, to ME?

There always has and always WILL BE a certain kind of person who cannot do without Local/Regional output.
They are a minority.
