Ariel now online!
Mar 1st, 2011, 11:52pm

With little apparent fuss, the BBC has made Ariel available on the Internet.

Haven't had time to go through the site yet, but it is a very welcome development.

Click here to see Ariel Online.

What on earth is it all about?
Looks like "they" have just hi-jacked the name Ariel to make yet another page of vaguely related things about teh BBC.
The only page that looks anything like the original well loved thing is the "advertise with us" bit.
Perhaps it is a way to let "outsiders" i.e. Journos, see the "best" bits

What a load of ill-prepared tripe!   This is NOT Ariel!   Don't even bother to go there.  The only thing left for us to see is The Letters and by the look of things staff morale is no higher than it has been for several months.   No real reportage, no classifieds, no obits....just "managed information" unimaginatively presented, much like BBC News On-Line  (A list of press releases, basically,) and exhibiting an over-riding, overburdening presence of management speak.  How awful!  Another nail in the coffin......

This is clearly not Ariel, the title has been stolen to head up a compendium of press reases. It would be interesting to see what the present staff actually get in print form.
I for one will be ignoring this insult to retired staff.

I've made an official complaint!

"How dare you use the name of the staff newspaper for a drivel based website! Either call it something else or actually put the real Ariel there."

Not that that will get anything but a stylised reply!

It's so awful I'm amazed there's no music track at high level to accompany it!

This is not "Ariel" as we know it.

Would it be better it it was a "weekly"?

It might seem better with a bit more 'meat' on the page.
