This is the link to the Hansard Report on the Commons debate yesterday on the new BBC Charter.  

The Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell, was broadly supportive of the BBC.  But she announced that the National Audit Office would be called in to test its efficiency in future.

The Tory spokesman, Hugo Swire, called for Ofcom to be given regulatory power over the BBC.
