Jan 30th, 2003, 4:58pm

The Director of BBC Monitoring, Andrew Hills, is leaving the BBC.  This was Mark Byford's announcement today
(January 30 2003):

Dear Colleagues,

After seven years as Director of BBC Monitoring, Andrew Hills will be
leaving the BBC. During Andrew's leadership of BBC Monitoring it has won
substantial new funding to expand services and develop its information
gathering capabilities. I'd like to thank Andrew personally for his
professionalism and commitment throughout this time.

The job will be advertised immediately. Andrew will be leaving BBC
Monitoring in the Spring once the succession has been clarified. We wish
Andrew all the best for the future.

Mark Byford
