New Chair for BBC Trust

Sir Michael Lyons, pictured, has become the Chair of the new BBC Trust, the regulatory body set up to replace the old Board of Governors. He was in local government for most of his working life and has recently carried out a Government inquiry into council funding. He denies that he is a "crony" of Gordon Brown - and says he prefers Radio 4 to television. Sir Michael starts his new job on May 1st. Read more here.

Full story of Greg Dyke's dismissal

The BBC has been forced to publish the minutes of the Governors'meeting which sacked Greg Dyke. It is rivetting stuff. It shows, among other things:
- how rapidly support for Dyke evaporated
- the role played by Dame Pauline Neville Jones
- how Greg tried to head off and then negotiate his departure
- the strong support the head of Personnel showed for Greg
- how Mark Byford moved in to fill the gap
Read the minutes of two crucial Board meetings here.
