Roy Walters, a senior journalist in Radio News for many years, has died. He was 91.
He joined the Newsroom in 1964 from the Press Association, as a sub editor. He did stints as a reporter, including a spell with Television News, and rose through the ranks,
Roy was made Deputy Editor of News and Current Affairs under his great friend, Larry Hodgson, who died in October, 2021,
obituary here. When John Birt reorganised News Roy became deputy to Jenny Abramsky.
Later he ran Journalist Training and fostered the career of many trainees.
Roy died in hospital after a short illness.
