BBC's UN Appeal
Mar 12th, 2018, 8:06am

"The BBC is making an unprecedented appeal to the UN to stop Iran from harassing its Persian service staff in London and their families in Iran."

So reports this
 BBC News page.

"......Another BBC Persian journalist received demands via Skype that she stop working for the broadcaster - or at least agree to spy on her colleagues - in return for the freedom of her 27-year-old sister."

"The Herald" in this article, reports that DG Tony Hall said

"In fact, during the past nine years, the collective punishment of BBC Persian Service journalists and their families has worsened.

“This is not just about the BBC – we are not the only media organisation to have been harassed or forced to compromise when dealing with Iran.

“In truth, this story is much wider: it is a story about fundamental human rights. "

The Guardian, here, adds..
"The BBC World Service, which controls foreign-language services including the BBC Persian Service, a TV channel based in London, received funding until 2014 from the Foreign Office, a factor that has fanned the Iranian establishment’s distrust of its employees."

The New York Times has a report here.
"BBC Staff to Testify at UN on Iran Targeting Persian Service."
