BBC Records and Tapes

"The extraordinary, untold story of the world's weirdest record label",

claims  this BBC Music web-page.

From The Wombles, Enya to Death and Horror sound effects the BBC Recods and Tapes Label was 'different'.

The article should perhaps should have said more about the labels tremendous success with comedy.  Adaptations  from radio (Hancock and The Goons etc). In addition, the massive sales of TV advertised edits from Not the Nine o'clock News and Fawlty Towers, 6 of which which made the album charts making stacks of £dosh for BBC Enterprises.

Before I became a BBC Radio Producer, I was a singer - one of my more memorable (not) jobs was singing a theme in Waggoner's Walk. A fictional band called Suzanne and Me was written into the script. don't have a copy of the record but I do have a publicity still!  Jack Aistrop was the man we dealt with....memory from a very long time ago!!!
