Mr. Whittingdale is quoted as having said....

" “This myth that I wanted to undermine or destroy the BBC has been there almost from the day I arrived, despite my repeated assurances that I have no such intention,” he protests.

“There are areas where I think it could have done better or has had a negative impact sometimes. But I do think that without question the BBC is the finest broadcaster in the world.”  "
