"The Times" Opinion.
May 9th, 2016, 8:25am

Clare Foges expresses her personal view of The BBC and the relationship with the Conservative Party, in a "Times" article.

"Though the corporation has its problems, one-nation Conservatives should appreciate its value"

"........So I despair when Conservatives frame the BBC in the language of efficiency and subsidy, as the culture secretary did last week by calling it “a market intervention of around £4 billion”. I despair not just for the BBC, but for the party. Because when people talk about Tories knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing, it is exactly this kind of thing they mean. Trusted, loved, unifying national institutions do not spring fully formed from “the market”."

From "The Times", here.

According to The Evening Standard, Clare was a speechwriter for Boris Johnson in 2007, and later for David Cameron at Number 10.
