Local Papers want £14m
Mar 29th, 2016, 2:44pm

This, from "The Press Gazette":-

"The Times" reports that Local Newspapers (represented by the News Media Association) want £14m from the BBC to pay for 364 newspaper reporters to cover court and council events.

Last year the BBC offered to pay for 100 reporters, but the local press were said not to be keen on BBC reporters in their newsroom.

Alternative ways of paying for court and public event reporting are still being explored.

Roy Greenslade writes for The Guardian, here.
