81% of survey say "Well done BBC".
Mar 1st, 2016, 10:47pm

The public has given strong support to the BBC in one of the largest ever responses to a government public consultation, while showing huge indifference to the way it is governed.

Lorna Greenwood, the campaign manager at the organisation which launched a petition signed by 400,000 people calling on the BBC to be protected, said: “There is huge public support for a properly funded and fully independent BBC.

"The Guardian" has a report on the survey here.

Over 150,000 (81%) of those that took part in the consultation indicated that the BBC is serving its audiences "well, or very well".

Only 4% were of the opinion that OFCOM should be in charge- which seems not to be in tune with Sir David Clementi's report - recently issued - which said that...
"It is proposed that Ofcom’s scope should be widened to enable it to have oversight of editorial complaints, including for ‘accuracy and impartiality’, in respect of all the BBC’s linear broadcasting and video on demand output."
