BRYAN HARRIS
Oct 3rd, 2015, 4:30pm

The former Manager of BBC Radio Derby, and before that BBC Radio Cleveland, Bryan Harris, recently passed away. I worked for Bryan as Sports Producer at Radio Derby from 1983, becoming Bryan's Programme Organiser in 1989, and then succeeding him as Manager at Radio Derby when Bryan retired in 1993. He was almost like a father to me, full of fun and great stories and lots of wisdom to put over. He was a people-person of the highest order and crucially backed his production teams to the hilt, sometimes in the midst of great aversity when external political or other interests tried to interfere. I was proud that he took him under my wing. Below is a link to a tribute run in the Derby Evening Telegraph.
