The forthcoming Green Paper

The vast majority of Licence payers think the BBC is excellent value and produces programmes of high standard and quality. Let's hear more from these people-the viewers and the listeners-not just the experts. Of course there is always room for improvement and I believe the following are key in the forthcoming debate

1) Encryption is essential when accessing Iplayer, this will do much to halt Licence avoidance.

2) Viewers/listeners are flexible customers . The BBC shouldn't get hot and bothered about cutting channels and scheduling programmes according to historical habit. As long as quality exists, the modern viewer  will find it , stick with it and praise it

3)News output-on air and on line needs a review. It's brilliant on a busy news day-but truly dire and unnecessary on a slow sunday .  In summary-the 24 Hour news channel is a luxury-but the BBC News website has massive potential.

4) Whether it's a Licence fee,a tax or a subscription-everybody knows the BBC has to be paid for if you want to watch/listen/surf. If you don't want it-fine-but don't try and turn on /log on without your "user name and password".

5) BBC Radio is top notch, unique and cheap-especially speech.

6) I do not believe that listeners to BBC music on radio ,whether serious, pop or jazz from Radio's 1,2,3 and 6 would seriously mind at all if their output was commercialised.

Let a proper debate begin
