The Licence-payers are never consulted, it's not the Government's BBC, it's the viewers'.

"An awful idea" and "objectionable" (referring to BBC paying over 75's fees)

He called for "a serious public debate" about the future of the BBC, rather than negotiations "done in private".

If that's the case--hands up the millions of us who have been asked to join these well publicised debates, attend conferences, fill in questionnaires, read accessible minutes etc....
