Match of the every other day
Jan 17th, 2015, 10:12am

I've always just about tolerated Match of the Day when it was on saturday night--and went to bed promptly when it graced the sunday schedules post the 22.00 news slot-but i am worried that is starting to regularly intrude midweek on BBC 1, slap bang from early evening, right up to 22.00.
This has happened twice in the last 7 days.

I am sure it is pleasing football fans, but who else is enjoying this ?

Why not put it on  "red button" and retain the existing BBC1 regular schedule?

The same goes for darts, snooker and indoor bowling as far as I am concerned! If we ditch these perhaps we could afford cricket test matches.

If I may add-I just wonder if it's all done because it's cheap to actually produce. Leaving "rights" costs aside-For the football-it's just a "point and press" and for the darts/snooker it's a robot camera?....much less resource hassle maybe than a "live" multi camera drama or an hour long studio variety show with 8 set changes.
