James Harding Speech
Nov 11th, 2014, 11:37am

Here is the speech by James Harding, Director of BBC News and Current Affairs, to the Society of Editors conference in Southampton, courtesy of the BBC Media Centre.

Apart from discussing the present state of BBC journalism, he said he'd "like to suggest that the BBC and Britain’s newspapers can do more together."

The Press Gazette reports his speech here in which they report that "Harding [said] that the BBC is carrying out an audit in West Yorkshire and Bristol looking at how stories are sourced by the BBC from other news organisations and whether it could pay for them.

He said it has also discussed creating a fund to cover local courts and that conversations are planned with the Press Association and Ministry of Justice about this."

Interestingly that link to the BBC's own press release seems to no longer be working. I wonder if it's been 'pulled'.
