Paul Gibbs, who worked in both radio and television, has died after suffering from cancer for several years. Paul's BBC career lasted more than 20 years, beginning as a graduate news trainee. He worked as a producer on Today, Panorama, the breakfast programme, the Money programme and Newsnight. He was head of daily business programmes and launched Working Lunch, Business Breakfast and World Business Report. His last post was head of business programmes at BBC World News. He left the BBC and worked for a variety of organisations including Al Jazeera, Channel 5, Channel 4, Discovery and Carlton TV. I personally worked with him for more than four years on Today where he was always enthusiastic with a nose for news and a good story. An excellent producer in other words and a good friend. He married Eileen Fitt, daughter of well known Ulster politician Gerry Fitt and they had two children. Eileen also worked for the BBC on Newsnight and the nine and then the ten o'clock news. Condolences for her and the family can go to their home - 12, Freeland Road, London W5 3HR.
