PLAY SCHOOL 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Mar 27th, 2014, 9:12pm

Producers, directors, presenters, musicians, designers – everyone who helped make Play School an iconic pre-school institution – are gathering to celebrate 50 years since the programme first transmitted – as the accidental first-ever programme on BBC 2.

Riverside Studios was the home of the early episodes of Play School and it’s to Riverside that the creators and friends of the programme return, to swap stories, raise a glass or two and wish the Humpty, the Teds  and Jemima a Happy 50th Birthday. From April 21st 1964 Play School transmitted daily on BBC 2 and later spawned spin-off programmes around the world and launched the careers of many – especially those who continued to deliver its unique pre-school excellence in successor series from “Playdays” to “Show Me Show Me”, setting the standard by which Britain is recognised as pre-eminent in pre-school production, across the world. The Children’s Media Foundation is proud to have set this unique celebration in motion and congratulates the organising committee of ex-Play School staff for their hard work in planning the afternoon.

If you were a fan and like to mingle with some of the great names of Children's TV, then book your ticket - they cost £25 per person and you can buy them by registering here: https://playschoolanniversary.eventbrite.com or you can order the tickets by email at: admin@thechildrensmediafoundation.org Please include your full name, the number of tickets you require, your postal address and telephone number, in case we need to contact you.

We look forward to seeing you at this fun event.
