Radio Times "Special" 90th birthday edition
Sep 24th, 2013, 3:17pm

Well having seen it advertised, I rushed out this morning to buy it, filled with great expectations.
Apart from half a front cover and one editorial, it contained a massive 12 pages of relevant material squeezed in between pages and pages of advertisements and articles about non-discript dancers and "celebrities"
What a disapointment compared with my own copy of the 50th birthday "Special edition" which contained 100 pages of covers and excerpts from past editions, even including original advertisements for "1/- belted Corslette and £16.16 wooden garages and even 79/- garden sheds"
I should have stayed in bed longer!

I only had to tear off half the double size front cover, drop all the bumpf crammed inside back in the Sainsburys magazine rack and tear out the centre bit (being careful of course about the exposed open staples) and drop it in the re-cycling bin.

Thanks everyone for saving my money!
Gave up this 'MAG' years ago and your comments only support my continued use of newspaper listings! Angry

RT is an expensive editorial disgrace which has lost it's way in a very crowded marketplace.

To give it its due, it does have quite a lot of detail about (most) programmes and one can at least browse through highlighting worthwhile things to watch/listen to and then plan one's evening without hopping slowly around an EPG or using Newspaper versions which are a bit thin on the ground for the "lesser" channels.
And lets not forget, it almost gives an excuse to call in to the last remaining BBC Club with retired staff access in London (yes I know it is the "not very good" Western House but we will never replace the lovely Langham Club) to get a free copy and possibly even a quick pint!
