A great shame to hear about Toni's death.

Toni attended many APTS reunion's in the early days of the society and was always a joy to talk with.  A very elegant lady and always immaculate.

Yet another stalwart of the BBC Television Service sadly no longer with us!

Toni Chapman died in hospital on Tuesday 7th May 2013

Toni’s early working career spanned the late 40’s and early 50’s, where she worked as a secretary for the HM Forces, based in Germany and later was employed  by the Bank of England
However she left the work of banking to pursue a career working for the BBC in the Makeup Department, which lasted the rest of her working life.

Toni worked across most genres and was well regarded by all those who had the privileged of knowing her.   From at least 5 Prime Ministers, the first being Clement Atlee and concluding with John Major.   The period costume drama “The Prince Regent” (1979) saw Toni nominated and receiving a BAFTA award in 1980: Opera/Ballet from Glynbourne and Covent Garden (“Arabella (1984) Where the Wild Things Are” (1984) and “The Nutcracker “(1985).   Towards the end of her career she worked on the series “Yes Minister”:“Lovejoy”and “The Importance of Being Earnest”

A long standing respected member of the Makeup Department, friends and old colleagues were well represented at the funeral service that took place on Tuesday 21st May 2013.
