The Guardian is running a poll, here.

"Poll: who should be next BBC director general?

The BBC will have to choose who succeeds George Entwistle after he resigned over the weekend. Who do you think is best suited for the job?"

Advanced Television (in common with other news sources) reports here:-

"Caroline Thomson, the BBC’s former Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed the new chair of Digital UK........Thomson said she was “not a candidate” to be the new BBC Director General, because she was “wanting to get on with my other career”."

Oooo! That's devious, Dickie!
