Joan Mansfield - BBC East
Sep 4th, 2012, 5:18pm

Joan Mansfield, one of the pioneers of BBC East in Norwich died peacefully in her sleep on August 24th aged 89.

Joan started circa 1959 as secretary to David Bryson the East Anglia Representative (as the station manager was called in those days), and continued in that role when Johnny Johnston took over as Regional Television Manager in the late 1960s.

In 2009 Joan came to the BBC East reunion lunch to celebrate 50 years of broadcasting from BBC Norwich, and she had a very happy day with around eighty of her former colleagues.

The obituary notice and funeral details that were published in the Eastern Daily Press can be viewed on -  http://www.familynotices24.co.uk/19063787?s_source=arnf_edp
