Agree--unfortunately TN was audible-unlike Huw Edwards who sounded distorted throughout- as if he was in Bejing by mistake.
And who the hell mucked up the Hey Jude mix and left the bass out?

FoxyFace,
ISTR it happened slightly differently ...!
Just as they were about to start 'Hey Jude' it was as if someone started the "backup" (which had little/no bass) playing out on the PA (or was it the artist monitors?) - only Paul hadn't started singing on the main mic! There must have been about 5 secs of the backup where you could clearly hear 'the voice' before a mad scrambling of faders (by the monitor operator?) and Sir Paul then started to sing out from the beginning. Once the song was going there was plenty of bass (not playing very sympathetically as I recall!) - but it's high time someone told SirPMcC that he's not got the 'wind' to sing at the age of 70 what he sang so brilliantly at 21! [I wondered if, after the rather poor performance he gave at the Diamond Jubilee gig, he would have learned that lesson.]
Besides, at that stage of the evening, we really didn't need to have a L-O-N-G rendition of that song (can't see what relation it might have had to the Olympics anyway!). Far too late!

But that blessed woman 'announcer' was far too loud and piercing compared to the chap (for the major part he was doing the French announcements). And I noted that they never made any comment about the German Minister doing the Nazi salute to his country's team!!

BUT I must say there were at least a couple of 'audio inconsistencies': who was playing the keyboards for The Arctic Monkeys second song? Who was actually playing the synth for Rowan 'Mr Bean' Atkinson (he couldn't possibly have continued the pulsing in time when using an umbrella!!)? Mike Oldfield was in very good form though!!!!

As a matter of interest, did anyone see any audio Credits for the evening session?

There were no credits of any kind, just a generic "BBC Sport" copyright. A shame as it would have been nice to see who was involved in it. Although given the size of the production, the credits would probably have taken another half hour to run through!

I thought that the audio problem on Hey Jude was more a question of various digital delays (audio and video) getting out of sync with each other. Very easy to achieve!

I thought that "The End" was a brilliant closing number - if only he'd left it at that.

And there was a version sans commentary available on one of the extra olympic channels.
They should have put that version on BBC1
