If there is one Prom in the series which started last evening wich is televisual and ought to be seen on the box it is tonight's recreation of My Fair Lady with the John Wilson Orchestra and a host of famous actors including Alun Armstrong and Julian Ovenden. But it's only on the wireless. What dismal decision-making!!!

Well I sincerely hope so....the tx last night was superb   (though not technically flawless)  and held our attention for the whole three hours although the long gaps when the action on the stage was amusing the hall audience but frustrating us at home were infuriating. Full costume apparently and choreography. Neither go well on the wireless!    Maybe a Christmas Special....so why don't they tell us ?    But that John Wilson Orchestra is really something........looking forward to Sep 1 when they ARE on the TV with a 27th Aug recording along with the Maida Vale singers.

Having just checked, I'm afraid to say that last year's Hollywood Prom doesn't appear to have been televised, but we can hope.

That's encouraging. The database I was using is one big blank for that date - no wonder a search didn't find it.
