In view of the news today that 2 million viewers were so sickened by the violence in last Sunday's Sient Witness they declined to watch part two the following day; and in view of the BBC Trust's mealy mouthed comments in response to hundreds of complaints about the sickening sexuality forced on us by Strictly Come Dancing; and in view of the overt trend to continue dumbing down the BBC, perhaps we should demand that the next DG be charged with raising standards rather than salaries?   The BBC should resume its status as guardians of public taste and decency. Dumb Up!
In our house we didn't see Sunday's reported horror. The first episode of the new series was enough to  make us decide we didn't want to see the rest.  Entertainment it is not. Violent voyeurism it certainly is. How does anyone justify such a programme on a Sunday night?

Very well said David! We abandoned BBC 1 years ago for the very reasons you state.....and ITV 1 as well as it is indistinguishable on screen from BBC 1 and the latter seem unable or unwilling to remedy the matter.
