There is already intense media speculation regarding the next DG.

The Telegraph has published an opinion here.

The Guardian proposes some likely names:-

Peter Fincham. Presently at ITV.
Mark Scott. Presently at ABC.
George Entwistle. Presently Director BBC Vision.
Caroline Thomson. Presently BBC CEO.
David Abraham. Presently Channel 4 Chief Executive.
Tim Davie. Presently BBC Director Audio and Music.
Sophie Turner-Laing. Presently MD at SKY.
Helen Bowden. Presently BBC Director of News.

Esteemed members of this forum, what are your thoughts?
Any other likely contenders?

BBC main news giving out "old chestnuts"? Surely not!
