The 2nd November 2011 is the 75th anniversary of the world’s first regular high-definition public television service inaugurated at Alexandra Palace.

The occasion is being marked by a FREE open day in the studios at the south-east wing of Alexandra Palace.

Begins at 10.00am and closes at 8.00pm.

Visitors can expect:

• Television history experts on hand throughout the day.
• Tours into the historic studio A throughout the day
• Displays of working vintage television equipment
• Previously unseen pre-war television footage
• Exhibition displays and audio-visual presentations in the former transmitter hall (later BBC Clib) on the ground floor.
• Also, (for star spotters) celebrity guests present at various times throughout the day.

Access is via the front terrace adjacent to the BBC tower.
