Liz Swan
Jul 16th, 2010, 4:26pm

Liz Swan was the "mother hen" of Radio Derby.  Recruited to the station in the early 1970s as a sort of general factotum, she soon graduated into on-air work and was popular with listeners.  Her natural warmth and enthusiasm also made her an important source of support for the mostly-younger staff.  Typical quotes:  "She was always willing to hear our problems", and "I have fond memories of her helping me out of a couple of scrapes".  She retired in 1987.  Liz Swan died after a long illness.
