I may be mistaken but I believe that I was paid London Weighting when I joined the Corporation in 1962 although I was posted to Glasgow from the outset and this "extra" payment continued for a number of years.

I didn't get London Weighting when first appointed. Just before reaching two years at Manchester I was asked where I would like to be established and chose London. That is when I found out that only established staff are helped with relocation expenses!
