Zeki Okar, former head of the Turkish Section of the World Service, died on Sunday, March 16, 2008. He had been suffering from cancer.

Zeki left the BBC in 1996 to concentrate on translation work and devote more time to acting as editorial adviser on many publications and productions in Turkish and English
