BBC to take over ITV Digital

According to the Guardian (amongst others) the BBC is bidding to take over the digital television license left vacant by the collapse of ITV Digital.

It is leading a consortium, with the partipation of Crown Castle, the TV transmission business, and BSkyB.

The paper says the BBC bid will have the backing of the Government.
