Here we go again. In 1993 I was one of those who opted to get out while the going was good. The total staff then was c.22,000, which included all the engineering, technical and craft departments that have subsequently been culled. The reduction was about 3,000.
Then management and support swelled out of hand until the figure for 2019 was 22,000 all over again, with very few actually making contributions to the output - all the penpushers have meetings about meetings and ways to reduce costs, and then employ more number crunchers to make it all add up.
A radical change in ethos is needed. Whatever happened to dispersion to the regions? During the pandemic many have learned to operate effectively from home, so why pay the continuing "London weighting" when many could work from a terrace in the middle of the cheapest place in the UK to live. Please Auntie get a grip and realise that only 15% of our nations population are Londoncentric so why does the BBC have to operate with 50% of its workforce there.

Things will never change. Angry
