Jim Cook

Sad news, received recently, that Jim Cook - erstwhile lecturer at Engineering Training Department and one of the Studio Engineering Managers at TV Centre during part of the 1990s - passed away a few days ago.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the end of May and, although he was in reasonable spirits when some of the old team managed to speak to him last week, he was characteristically realistic about his prognosis - an engineer to the end. He was hoping ‘to see the summer out’ but unfortunately his condition was rather more aggressive than he had hoped.

One of life’s truly unique characters - to whom many of us owe a great deal. His energy, enthusiasm and immense good humour have left us with many happy and unforgettable memories.

RIP Jim.

Yes-very sad-a true gentleman, an excellent trainer, wonderful humour--and as JohnW points out-amazing energy.
