David Sells
Feb 7th, 2020, 11:44pm

BBC Newsnight reporter David Sells has died.
David joined the BBC in 1966 having been with Reuters for several years as a correspondent based in Rome, Warsaw and Germany. He became manager in their Brussels office. It was this period that tempted him back to journalism- at the BBC.

He joined "Newsnight" when the programme started in 1980, when he also presented Radio 4's "The World Tonight".

David was with "Newsnight" for 26 years.
Here David recalled his time on the programme. (Unfortunately the video clips are no longer available).

The programme closed their tranmission on 7th February with a tribute to David. It may be viewed here at 27' 42" in.

A charming and accomplished gentleman who I was fortunate enough to work with around the world in Newsnight days.
