Watching brexit is like seeing people who don't read, burning down a library. Every day BBC news ignores or plays down stories concerning leavers and government ministers cheating and lying which are of real importance to our children and grand children's futures. It's an embarrassment to admit to having been a BBC journalist.

Just been reading in The Times business section that Johnston Press, who bought out most UK local titles over the last two decades is now itself facing possible closure. Having reduced local newspaper jobs from over five thousand to a little over two thousand and decimated the number of morning, evening and weekly publications some will say "Good Riddance". But just look at the hole that would leave in coverage of local affairs. Could local radio and regional television fill that gap? Not a chance. Instead, vested interest will take control of social media, blogs and "freebies" with little or no control and no professionalism whatsoever. Please tell me I'm wrong.
