TO 29 (50 years)
Feb 18th, 2018, 11:00pm

TO 29

Are you one of the many engineers and operators who started their BBC career at ETD Wood Norton on the 9th September 1968?

The large intake of staff, once they had passed the terrifying examinations at the end of the course, were dispatched to their future studio centre.

It is hoped to celebrate this auspicious date.

If you would like to express your interest in any possible event, please send an email "  TO29 (at) gmx.com   ".

Nothing is planned yet, so any ideas would be welcome.
Do you know of anyone who was at Wood Norton at the same time? If so please let them know.

Amigo

Do you want me to put a link to this notice on a Facebook group page "memories of working at BBC Television Centre"?
I will also put it in an email group Tech-ops.co.uk which I know has at least one member of TO29 (Graeme Wall).

Hi Bill,

Yes, that'll be fine. Frankly, the more the word gets around the better.
If people want to respond to "TO29[at]gmx.com" with their details, then they'll be contacted with the latest information as to progress on a possible reunion.

There were well over 120 "young persons" assembled at Wood Norton on Monday 9th September 1968 for T.O 29 as it consisted of sections for TV, Regions and Radio.
I'm not too sure of quite how many of those completed the whole course and went on to join their allocated "station", and certainly there are some who aren't still with us: but it would be great to gather up again - regardless of where the people went to.

One issue of debate is the location of where a reunion (if it happens!) might be held - and although Wood Norton is a 'possibility' until numbers are gathered then it's not going to be easy to decide. However, voice your opinion if you think there's a better option!!

Just to make a late confirmation for anyone who's missed the earlier call ...

The gathering of those who wish to remember their time and/or place on T.O.29 back in 1968 will be taking place at 'The Wood Norton Hotel' on Sunday 9th September, where there will be an 'extended table' for lunch, no doubt followed by the obligatory Course photographs on the lawn - weather permitting, naturally!

We look forward to seeing those who've committed to coming along, but if you haven't already, and feel that you would like to join us, please do so. You'll be most welcome, and it's sure to be "faces from the past" that you may not have seen for a very long time!!
