ARTHUR BROOKS
Jun 25th, 2017, 8:16am

Sorry to report the death of my old colleague at BBC South Arthur Brooks who passed away on June 19th. He was one of the Engineering founding fathers at Southampton who under the able leadership of Ken Nicholas made the then new sub-regional system work. He worked at Birmingham before moving to Southampton. My early days were under his tutorship and he had a great sense of humour which was a prime qualification in those days! Warm thoughts to his family.

Many thanks for your thoughts regarding the death of my father, Arthur Brooks.

He had been ill for a while, but his passing was peaceful, with his family around him.

He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Gill, who was also a BBC engineer, as was I, his son Mike, and a daughter, Janet.

The funeral is tomorrow, the 4th of July at West Chapel, Southampton Crematorium, at 11:30, if anyone would like to attend; all would be welcome.
