Here is the BBC "Blog" with the latest information regarding the change of weather supplier from the UK Met Office to MeteoGroup.


"Some things won’t change though. We know how fond people are of our weather presenters. We have taken steps so the vast majority of our well known and much loved presenters will continue to front BBC Weather.

We’ll still work closely with the Met Office on severe weather warnings; the national agencies for flood warnings and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency on shipping forecasts and coastal information."

The announcement says that the changes will take effect from the spring of 2017.


An item in "The Guardian", here, mentions some of the on-screen forecasters presently employed by the Met Office.
The article also gives an account of the business-history of "MeteoGroup", having started as part of the Press Association, before being sold off in 2013 to "General Atlantic".

According to this Press announcement, Channel Five has signed The Met Office to supply the channel with the next four years' weather forecasts.

"5 News viewers will get the most trusted weather information to plan their day and make decisions. Channel 5 is the latest media channel to choose the Met Office as their preferred weather partner, with the new service coming straight from the heart of the world's best weather organisation.

Tom Shapland, Head of Media and Content Partnerships at the Met Office said: "We're delighted to be providing 5 News with their new look weather service for the next four years."
