"The Irish Times" report that "RTÉ"'s Kevin Bakhurst is leaving.

Kevin joined RTÉ from the BBC in September 2012.

"The Irish Times" report says:-
RTÉ deputy director-general and managing director of news and current affairs Kevin Bakhurst is leaving the broadcaster to take up a role at the UK communications watchdog Ofcom.

When Kevin left The BBC in 2012, "Ariel" reported:-

" The Controller of BBC News Channel and Deputy Head of BBC Newsroom Kevin Bakhurst is leaving the BBC.

He is joining Ireland's public service broadcaster RTE as Managing Director of News and Current Affairs after the Olympics.

Bakhurst started working at the BBC as a researcher in the Business Unit in 1989. Within a year he moved on to become a producer of the Nine O'Clock News.

He went on to become assistant editor of Nine O'Clock and Ten O'Clock News. After two years as editor of News 24 he returned to the Ten O'Clock News as editor.

Since 2010 he has been the deputy head of the newsroom, overseeing BBC TV News, Radio News and the BBC News website. This adds to his role as controller of the news channel, which he took in in 2005. "


RTÉ report  "RTÉ has confirmed that Kevin Bakhurst, the managing director of news and current affairs, is to leave the organisation in October.

He will take up a position as content group director for Ofcom, the communications regulator in the UK.  "
