Virtual Radio Stations
Jul 4th, 2014, 9:22am

The BBC Local Radio Station serving Northampton goes 'live' today with the very latest technology.

A "Virtual" Local Radio Station can be 'refreshed' in much less time using the 'cutting-edge' technology, using less space and which permits faster updating.

Some of the benefits claimed are:-
Improved sound quality,
Better interaction using the latest social media,
Easier to share content,
OBs can be more flexible, easier to set up, and more extravagant.

The BBC Media Centre has the story here.

Three more stations are to follow, BBC Radio Suffolk, Essex and BBC Three Counties Radio.

"Jess Rudkin, Managing Editor for BBC Radio Northampton, says: “Throughout the design and installation of ViLoR, BBC Local Radio producers, presenters and journalists have worked with the BBC’s technology experts, and we now have the best studio equipment in the business".
