British Pathé
Apr 19th, 2014, 4:22pm

British Pathé library is now on YouTube.

Disasters caught on camera, dare-devils and cute animals, from 1896 to 1976, there are 85,000 sequences to view.

There is special mention of film coverage from the two World Wars.

"Newsreel archive British Pathé has uploaded its entire collection of 85,000 historic films, in high resolution, to its YouTube channel.

This unprecedented release of vintage news reports and cine-magazines is part of a drive to make the archive more accessible to viewers all over the world."

For those interested, the YouTube page is here.

The project is being managed by Mediakraft, who has handled previous YouTube projects.

A search for 'BBC' reveals many ancient sequences involving the corporation.

"Listening Post 1940"
"BBC Effects girl.. 1947"
"The Queen visits a BBC Tv studio 1953"
"The Queen visits BBC Tv Centre 1961"

In the sequence entitled "Princess Margaret Visits Television Studios (1956)" the Pathé cameraman had access to the TV Theatre for the visit. It maybe found here. Mole booms, STC 4033 and Mole Cranes are in abundance.
