This received from Jeff Griffin on Tuesday evening ...

"I just found out this afternoon that Mike "Robbo" Robinson - one of the most brilliant sound mixers to have ever worked at the BBC, or anywhere else - died at the weekend. I know few details except that he was found at his flat, having previously told a friend he did not feel well."

Though I personally didn't know him that well, he'd always been a great friend and colleague at the Beeb when I'd been discussing various sessions with him. He was a truly gifted 'musician'. His instrument? Why, that mixing desk of course! He played it like the true master that he was.

A sad loss of a very skilled guy. The only RADIO person to win a BAFTA award for sound.
