The BBC's longest serving member of staff celebrates the anniversary of his joining the Corporation on Monday.
Senior Broadcast Engineer John Walch, 68, began his career as a Technical Assistant in the Transmitter Department on 17 September 1962, which was also a Monday. After ten years being posted around the country and abroad at the start of his career, he joined Radio Sheffield in 1972 and has worked there ever since.
