Who forgot to record De Gaulle's speech?
Apr 14th, 2010, 3:28pm

Hello,

I am currently working on www.bbc.co.uk/historyofthebbc and we are keen to track down the person who forgot to make the crucial recording of De Gaulle's 'L'Appel du 18 Juin' speech in 1940. Originally it went out live and no one remembered to record it - so the legend has it. De Gaulle was rather angry at this, and his speech had to be performed again, and recorded. It was then broadcast a few days later.

Any pointers ?
Many thanks.
