Variety Department  - Information Needed
Feb 15th, 2008, 11:41am

Hello...I wonder whether anyone can help please?

I am a mature PhD student researching how successful the BBC Variety Department was in providing popular mass radio entertainment between the years 1945 and 1967. I am also interesting in researching the history of the Department from its establishment in 1933.

I am particularly interested in the following:

- the mood and atmosphere within the Department
- information on the programmes produced
- information on production, managerial and any staff     at all levels involved
- any other background information on Variety during the period 1922-1945

Basically, I am interested in anything anyone would have to say, photographs or any other memorabilia. Literally any reminiscences or memories, good or bad, would be helpful.

I would be pleased to receive emails from any interested contributor and am happy to guarantee anonymity where requested.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from anyone about Variety either through this website or at  mgrd@st-andrews.ac.uk.

With best wishes,

Martin Dibbs
