Title: Shakespeare on radio
Post by Andrea_S on Dec 22nd, 2019, 6:43pm

Hello

After 22 years with the Beeb, I recently left to pursue a PhD in Shakespeare’s plays on BBC Radio.

I am looking to make contact with any producers, PAs, BAs, SMs, directors, adaptors or actors – anybody really! - who took part in the many productions of these over the last century. By my current calculations there have been something over 300. Many of these plays do still exist in the archives, but some do not. This is particularly the case with very early productions, which were live, but even some later, recorded programmes seem to be missing.

I am in touch with BBC Written Archives, but first-hand accounts (and any squirrelled away tapes, scripts or cuttings!) relating to Shakespeare’s plays on radio would be very useful.

You can contact me direct on andrea.smith@uea.ac.uk – or leave me a message here.

Many thanks
Andrea

Presumably you are not interested in the 1970s BBC TV series "The Shakespeares" ? Jonathan Miller?
