Title: Broken News?
Post by Administrator on May 26th, 2019, 11:31am

"The Observer", here, has a feature, canvassing various personalities for their opinions about BBC News.

"Is BBC news broken? And if so, how do we fix it?"

What do you think?

Yes. It is broken. And has been for some time. Brexit is a symptom, not a disease. I think many of the points made in the contributions to the article are valid and popular. One I picked out in the last contributor's article was "He (Farage) intimidates people and too often he’s given an easy ride, either because interviewers aren’t armed with the facts or are nervous about how he’s framing them and whipping up anti-BBC hatred."   The BBC still hasn't learned from Peter Snow's cringing embarrassment at the hands of Arthur Scargill......"Have your read the document?".  Scargill rightly made huge capital out of that. I take The Times Ipad version every day and only read it after perusing BBC News on-line from Home Page to Regional and there are times when you could be reading of two different nations. I am getting heartily sick of the BBC News agenda of sex; "I am to be pitied", "I have a singular exclusive medical condition/thingy/vulva/attitude" and even fake news, one of which I complained about this weekend which attempted to portray Norway as leading the way in electric cars whilst totally ignoring the huge difference in population (8 million to 65 million), route mileage, number of licensed drivers, fewer cities etc etc which actually means you can not compare the two with any common sense. But it was click bait.
Is BBC News broken?  In my view, irreparably so.
